Descrizione

La famiglia comprende mwgapiante succulente mwgqrampicanti.

Sono accomunate dalla presenza di un mwgwfiore sotteso da due mwhabratteole, con mwhqperianzio composto da due mwhgsepali e 5 mwhwpetali; presentano inoltre un mwiafrutto indeiscente, circondato dal perianzio persistente.cite-ref-kew2007-3-0[3]

Distribuzione e habitat

La famiglia è nativa delle aree tropicali e subtropicali di mwjwAmerica, mwkaAfrica sud-orientale e mwkqMadagascarcite-ref-kew2007-3-1[3].

La maggior parte delle specie popola ambienti aridi.
